Doctor of the ULPGC and member of IATEXT, Carmen Márquez Montes has  recently published in The Conversation: “The revolutionary women of the theater by Benito Pérez Galdós".

In this article, Márquez explains and reveals the importance that the Canarian author gave to the female characters in each of his works. It emphasizes that, in terms of Galdós' theatrical production, “seventeen of the twenty-one plays written and premiered were led by women. All of them were characterized by being great defenders of the right of women to develop in life according to their desires.”

Daniel Castillo, member of IATEXT coordinates a book on the importance of carbon markets during the First Globalization.

The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria continues to improve its position in maritime and business history studies. In this case, Daniel Castillo Hidalgo, professor of History and Economic Institutions of the Department of Historical Sciences, researcher belonging to the Division Documentation, Heritage and Atlantic History of IATEXT, is the co-editor of the book Fuelling the World Economy. Seaports, Coal, and Oil Markets, posted by Palgrave Macmillan in the Palgrave Studies in Maritime Economics.

María Teresa Cáceres Lorenzo, Professor at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and member of the IATEXT has published recently in The Conversation: "The place names are neither good nor bad, but cultural richness" together with Marcos Salas Pascual Researcher associated with the Institute of Environmental Studies and Natural Resources, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Historically, place names have served to designate geographical points but we all know that "they define something more than the proper names of a place, they glimpse a history, useful information for many sciences (botany, demography, ethnography , geography, philology, etc.), but above all they are part of the life and culture of the people of each environment, and therefore they are generators of feelings and expression of a cultural link."

The Professor and member of IATEXT, Trinidad Arcos Pereira has participated in the program "Canarias es Cultura" on Radio Televisión Canaria.

The program that took place on Sunday, May 5, 2023 was focused on aboriginal archeology in the Canary Islands. Arcos Pereira spoke about  the first mentions of the Canary Islands in history books, a line of research in which has specialized and therefore has numerous publications.
