AMERLEX is part of the research projects selected in the 2022 call for Knowledge Generation Projects

The Project  of Digital Humanities of the University Institute of Textual Analysis and Applications,  'Lexical Americanisms in the Spanish and English languages ​​documented in texts about America (1650-1740): development of the AMERLEX database'  it is part of the eight research projects selected in the 2022 call for Knowledge Generation Projects, within the framework of the State Program to Promote Scientific-Technical Research and its Transfer, of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023.

AMERLEX-DATABASE has as its general objective the development of an online and open database (AMERLEX-DATABASE) that systematically gathers the lexical Americanisms (Amerindians and from Spain) present in a selection of Spanish and English texts on America published during the 16th and 17th centuries. This research follows a methodology of documentary foundation that is based on the compilation of the following data of the identified Americanisms: motto, spellings, work, year of publication, edition number, textual typology, author and its origin, grammatical category, lexical area , language of origin, area where it is registered, sample in Spanish and English texts, definition in dictionaries of the time (if it is registered), in addition to other fields that are considered of interest.
