Linguistic Variation and Linguistic Change
Regarding basic research, its activities are focused on the study of specialized languages in both their diachronic and synchronic prespectives; the study of linguistic variation at different levels of language, although with emphasis on phonetics and phonology and lexicon; discourse analysis and the study of the development of grammars, dictionaries and manuals in different languages. In its applied aspect, its work is oriented to the analysis of historical scientific texts, especially medical ones, in collaboration with practitioners; the development of online databases with bibliographic information on grammars and dictionaries of different periods; the development of oral corpus for the study of segmental and suprasegmental features; content development for software applications for teaching pronunciation and intonation. The results of these investigations are intended to influence the field of education, training and research according to the general and specific objectives of IATEXT.
